We Believe

“At Seed Bird, we believe that learning, like life, is not linear but organic. Therefore, we strive to make education a natural process that helps children understand the world around them and discover the talents within themselves. This empowers them to become fulfilled individuals and active, compassionate citizens.”

Challenge

Industrialised farming is an excellent metaphor for understanding the present education system because it deals with living things. Farmers shifted from an organic way of farming that valued crop diversity, rotation, and fertile soil to a mono-crop system that easily falls prey to pests, which are then killed with chemicals. The focus is on output and yield, which increased with chemical fertilisers. This system does what it was designed to do—it produces a lot of food but at the expense of the environment, long-term sustainability, and human health.

Similarly, education has become one-size-fits-all, treating all children the same. It pushes students to learn at the same speed and focus on test scores, ignoring individual talents and understanding.

As a result, many students graduate without solid reading, writing, math, or critical thinking skills. They may pass exams but often lack the creativity and self-awareness to face life’s challenges.

Like mono-cropping harms the soil, this rigid education system limits children’s potential and fails to prepare them for the future.

Solution

We believe education is an organic system, and success comes from focusing on the school’s culture rather than just its output. Our comprehensive “Project Umbrella” program aims to create a “healthy soil” for children to flourish by redesigning classrooms, training teachers, developing educational materials, and engaging the community to support a holistic learning environment.

Changes we need to bring into the school

At Seed Bird Association, we focus on three key areas to transform education into an organic, child-centred experience:

Adopting Schools and Tailoring Our Approach

We adopt needy schools and start by understanding each school’s unique situation. We customise our methods to meet their needs, including redesigning the physical environment and supporting teachers.

Physical Environment

We redesign traditional classrooms to be child-centred spaces where children are the focus. We create flexible learning environments and arrange classrooms so children can collaborate and work as a team. We provide accessible learning materials that children can freely use to learn by doing. This hands-on approach helps them understand concepts better. Our main goal is to create an atmosphere suitable for visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic learners according to NCERT guidelines, making education engaging and effective for every child.

Training Teachers

We train teachers to become facilitators who understand how children learn at different ages. Instead of traditional teaching methods that just deliver information, we create environments where children can explore and experience learning. We develop real-life lesson plans with practical activities and examples, making learning meaningful and relevant. By emphasising learning by doing, our methods are flexible and adapt to the needs of children while following NCERT guidelines. Additionally, we support teachers financially by adding to their salaries, recognising their essential role, and making it easier for them to focus on their work without financial stress. Parent Awareness and Involvement We work closely with parents to support their children’s education. We help them understand how their children learn and how they can support them at home. To reach more people, we create video content and other resources that explain our child-centred approach and how parents can be involved. We also hold open houses where children showcase their learning to parents and community members. By raising awareness among parents, we create a supportive environment that reinforces learning at home and in the community. Why Your Support Matters We primarily

Parent Awareness

Why Your Support Matters

We primarily work with NGOs that serve underprivileged and needy children—those who need our support the most. Many of these children face significant challenges, and your contribution helps provide them with the quality education they deserve.

Teachers are the lifeblood of a school’s success. Empowering and supporting teachers creates a culture of valuable learning where every child learns how to learn. The average teacher-to-student ratio in India is 1:30, so a well-trained teacher can positively impact at least 30 students. By supporting teachers financially, we enable them to focus on their work and adopt new methods to serve children better, helping students become capable and compassionate citizens.

Your Contribution

Your donation is a significant step toward our shared goal. Every rupee goes directly into Project Umbrella, supporting:

Redesigning Classrooms: Changing classrooms into child-centred spaces where children can learn effectively.

Training and Employing Teachers: Providing educators with the skills and tools to inspire and nurture every child’s potential and recognise their essential role by supplementing their salaries.

Developing Educational Resources: Creating lesson plans, materials, and educational videos that enhance learning for students and teachers.

Engaging the Community: Working with parents and community members by creating video content and other resources to help them understand and support children’s education. We hold open houses where children showcase their learning, fostering greater involvement and understanding

If everyone reading this contributes even ₹500, we can bring lasting hope to children and teachers in need. Your contribution, no matter how small, helps our mission. Every rupee helps us create a child-centered school where children explore, experience, and learn by doing.
