Summary

Seed Bird learning centre for underprivileged children to learn foundational literacy & numeracy through experiential learning for free, as it is an urgent & necessary prerequisite to learning.

This programme fills the gaps in school education and sustains the interest of children.

The teachers pay individual attention to the students to have a better understanding of the subject. This helps in enhancing their performance in their schools and motivates them to pursue higher studies.

Challenge

In and around our learning centre some children are studying in nearby government & private schools.

We conducted a workshop to understand their foundational literacy & numeracy levels. At every grade, basic learning levels are unacceptably low.

These children are in danger of dropping out of school due to minor learning challenges.

Their uneducated and poor parents could neither teach nor afford a private tutor to support them.

Solution

To attain the learning outcomes at every grade these children have to learn at the right level irrespective of the grade they are currently in.

We have started a learning centre for children to learn foundational literacy and numeracy for conceptual understanding(rather than rote learning and learning-for-exams) through experiential learning for free.

Long-Term Impact

To help children read and write, and perform basic operations with numbers, is a necessary

foundation and an indispensable prerequisite for all future schooling and lifelong learning.
